Despite of their composition, dimensional shingles are very much thicker than composition shingles. Because of this, they're more resistant to impacts and weather. However, the real benefit of dimensional shingles' thickness is the fact that it lets them to be carved in many ways. This carving enables designers to provide dimensional shingles much more varied looks and colors, as well as to imitate other type of materials, like wood and stone. Of course, due to greater complex process involved and the higher quantity of material uses, these dimensional shingles are therefore, more expensive than composition shingles.
